Back in 2016, when Colin Kaepernick bent his knee, so did I each day in class while the Pledge of Allegiance was being broadcast on the school loudspeaker.
I explained to my students that until everyone in the world was treated fairly, loved equally and cared about fully by all, I would bend my knee for those who have been treated unjustly.
To any adult who would listen, I would state that systematic change will only happen when organizations vet themselves; all police, and those in the CIA, FBI, etc.
