Latest injury report flips script with uplifting 49ers update

By now, most San Francisco 49ers fans probably have some form of PTSD with regard to injuries.

For good reason. And we don't even need to go back years to see how this trend has been a thing for head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad (but if you want to, here you go).

The Niners were dealt repeated blows on the injury front from training camp through the preseason, which forced Shanahan and Co. to regularly shuffle the back end of the roster just to get enough bodies to participate in practices.

Presumed starters like left guard Ben Bartch, wide receivers Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall, cornerback Renardo Green, right guard Dominick Puni, nickel back Upton Stout and defensive end Mykel Williams all missed time with one ailment or another, while reservists like running backs Jordan James and Isaac Guerendo, defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, wide receiver Jordan Watkins and safety Ji'Ayir Brown were all banged up, too.
