Colin Kaepernick, who triggered a national debate when he took a knee during the national anthem in the 2016 season, has decided that he will stand next season, ESPN reported.
Citing anonymous sources, Adam Schefter wrote that the 49ers quarterback believes that his kneeling protest of social inequality resulted in positive change. Now that his message has been addressed nationally and supported by NFL and NBA players, he does not feel compelled to continue the protest.
Kaepernick refused to stand during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the 49ers' final preseason game and all 16 regular season games.
