Jaquiski Tartt handles free safety work in Jimmie Ward’s absence

San Francisco 49ers free safety Jimmie Ward strained his hamstring on Thursday during the conditioning test, and that resulted in a depth chart shake-up. The team played Jaquiski Tartt as the first team free safety.

Kyle Shanahan said after practice that Ward tweaked his hamstring halfway through the conditioning test. The trainers did not think it was a full pull of the hamstring, but they want to play it safe and avoid creating a bigger problem.

Tartt is someone I think a lot of us have viewed as primarily a closer to the box guy.
