SANTA CLARA – Receiver Marquise Goodwin’s perseverance through the most difficult year imaginable off the field earned him the admiration of his teammates and a pair of 49ers team awards that were announced Monday.
Goodwin was announced as the 49ers winner of the Len Eshmont Award, given annually to the player who “best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont, an original member of the 1946 49ers team.”
The award was established after Eshmont died in 1957 and is considered the most prestigious honor voted on by the players.
“It’s an honor the receive such an award like that, especially when it’s voted on by your peers, the people you come to work with each day,” Goodwin told reporters Monday.
