MOBILE, Ala. — Kyle Shanahan never wants to coach in the Senior Bowl again.
He’s been twice before as an assistant, and 2019 is his first trip as a head coach. And even if Shanahan would much rather be still playing or even lamenting a playoff loss, the 49ers coach finds value in spending a week with college football’s best seniors.
“I know after being through it that it helps. It’s something that my goal is to not come back as a coach. No offense to the Senior Bowl. It’s just I’d like to be in the playoffs, but when you finish this week it’s hard to miss on guys that you were with at the Senior Bowl,” Shanahan said.
