Halftime: 49ers 23, Packers 0 — Studs and duds as defense eyes second shutout

SANTA CLARA — Not only are the 49ers winning in their first “Sunday Night Football” home game since 2014, they’re shutting out the Green Bay Packers 23-0 after their most satisfying first-half of the season.

The 49ers defense is leading the way and positioning itself for its second shutout of the season, having blanked Washington 9-0 last month.

Not even two minutes into this game, the 49ers held a 7-0 lead, keyed by a two-play sequence. First, linebacker Fred Warner sacked Aaron Rodgers as the third-down pocket collapsed, and Warner forced a fumble that Nick Bosa recovered at the 2-yard line.
