“Steve Wilks was one of my guys,” Brown said. “It was different my second year going into it with a new DC. A different style. Different messages.”
Brown has taken a different off-the-field approach in his bid to rebound this season. During OTA practices, he spent time in meetings with the quarterbacks and wide receivers to gain a deeper understanding of how offenses attack.
“I do a lot of listening,” Brown said. “Listening to Kyle speak. Listening to (quarterback Brock Purdy’s) rebuttal … just hearing them talk and how they are trying to manipulate Cover 3, Cover 4.
