The first preseason game is in the books and the Jim Tomsula era gets started with a loss. Preseason wins/losses do not mean much in regards to predicting regular season records, which is why the team's gameplan was very vanilla. The 1st game had some positives and negatives for the team. The 1st team offense was not in the game long and some of the players we know will be starters did not play in this game.
The biggest positive was the defensive line performance based on short yardage. The one goalline sequence proved that the defensive line is still the strongest position on the team.
