What. A. Mess. What a joke, really. In June, Marquise Goodwin won the “40 yards of Gold competition,” beating Carolina Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson. It was sketchy how quickly everything happened, and the event was put together. It was sketchy when we found out how big the purse was. Here we are, a month later, and Goodwin has yet to be paid. Supposedly, his reps are working toward getting his million-dollar check “soon,” per Pro Football Talk.
This smells like litigation. I wonder if Goodwin would pursue legal action, or if he would wait it out and “hope” his team can work something out.
