The San Francisco 49ers parted ways with running back Jordan Mason, the backup to All-Pro Christian McCaffrey, over the offseason. They may regret that if they lose McCaffrey to injury because Mason just had a massive game with his new team, the Minnesota Vikings.
In Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mason ran the ball 16 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He looked like a beast out there, and the performance was reminiscent of some of his best games with the Niners from last season.
Last season with San Francisco, Mason had to step up in a big way with McCaffrey out for much of the year with an injury.
