I like Mike Singletary a lot. I don’t think that’s necessarily an unpopular opinion, but his tenure as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers was such that many people grew to dislike him. I don’t think he was ready to be an NFL head coach, or if he’ll ever be ready for that, but I always liked what he did for certain players and was happy to see him find jobs elsewhere.
After leaving the 49ers, Singletary was a linebackers coach and special assistant to the head coach for the Minnesota Vikings for three seasons, and he was a defensive assistant with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016.
