Jarryd Hayne, the Australian rugby star who briefly played with the 49ers, was arrested and charged Monday with aggravated sexual assault of a woman nearly two months ago.
Hayne is free on bail in Sydney, Australia after turning himself into police, who had launched an investigation after a woman said she had been sexually assaulted on Sept. 30 by a man she had met online.
He is due in court in Burwood, Australia on Dec. 10.
The 30-year-old Hayne is already facing a trial in federal court after a woman filed a lawsuit alleging he raped her in San Jose in 2015.
