It was certainly a questionable move back in 2022 when the San Francisco 49ers used a third-round pick on former LSU running back Tyrion-Davis Price, especially after using another third-rounder on a tailback the year before, Trey Sermon, only to see that investment fail dramatically.
The Niners' reach on Davis-Price didn't take long to figure out, and the running back managed to appear in only six games his rookie season, amassing a mere 99 yards on 34 attempts, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry in the process.
By 2023, it clear enough Davis-Price would be a bust, especially with then-undrafted rookie Jordan Mason ascending the depth chart, and San Francisco officially cut bait with the former in December of that year after he appeared in just a single game.
