Deebo Samuel makes surprise appearance at unveiling of new 49ers mural

A brand new 49ers mural has emerged in the Bay Area.

Portraits of wide receiver Deebo Samuel are now adorning the wall of the Shoe Palace on South Bascom Avenue in San Jose, courtesy of Illuminaries, a collective of graffiti artists, muralists and designers who are well-known for their sprawling public art pieces featuring Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and other iconic athletes.

The mural includes a nod to Samuel’s “Game Changer” chain — a gift from cornerback Jason Verrett — as well as the famous “Here comes Deebo” line from the 1995 comedy “Friday,” where the athlete got his nickname.
