Truth is, nobody knows what the 49ers are doing except the 49ers.
I honestly believed they would finally land their go-to wide receiver, be it DeVante Parker, Breshan Perriman or Dorial Green-Beckham (who is still available), but instead the 49ers pulled a little shocker by taking the one player ESPN locked in from Day 1, Oregon defensive lineman Arik Armstead.
In hindsight, it’s a solid pick, not sexy, but solid.
This team isn’t just trying to win games this season, they are thinking long term. Two to three years from now, Armstead could develop into a disruptive defensive lineman, knocking down passes, holding the line, and just creating havoc for teams- think Chris Canty, or if you’re old enough to remember, Leon “Big Cat” Lett.
