Colin Kaepernick reaches out to Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane; U.S. soccer star Megan Rapinoe joins protest

Colin Kaepernick has reached out to the one NFL player outside his own team that joined in his protest against racial oppression by refusing to stand for the national anthem.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane told reporters Monday he would continue to sit for the anthem, saying, “I’m just going to continue doing what I’m doing.”

Lane, as he was following the Seahawks game against Raiders Thursday night, wasn’t big on elaboration, but said Kaepernick had reached out “and just told me thank you for standing behind him.”

Kaepernick did not stand for the national anthem in the 49ers first three preseason games, although it wasn’t noticed until he was in uniform for the third game against San Diego.
