Colin Kaepernick in helmet, will throw some as 49ers minicamp begins

Colin Kaepernick put on his 49ers helmet for what’s believed to be the first time this offseason as a three-day minicamp began Tuesday.

Coach Chip Kelly said Kaepernick will participate in individual, offensive drills, meaning he’s expected to throw, which he hasn’t done since the offseason program began in April.

Kaepernick will remain out of team drills and 7-on-7 action, said Kelly, joking that he hopes Kaepernick would indeed don a helmet to avoid a sunburn.

Kaepernick hasn’t practiced with the team in a passing capacity since Novemeber, when he needed season-ending surgery on his left shoulder.
