When San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly put together his coaching staff, it was a very diverse group with all kinds of different backgrounds, experiences, styles and personalities to boot. One common theme that general manager Trent Baalke and Kelly wanted to carry out and be on the same page was the energy level among coaches and players.
Last season on the road, it was clear that players and coaches lacked consistent energy, passion and effort. One game in particular was the Cleveland Browns game, in which the 49ers lost an uninspiring and sloppy contest.
Just ask 49ers left tackle Joe Staley.
