Bills waive running back Karlos Williams

The Buffalo Bills made a surprising roster cut on Saturday, waiving running back Karlos Williams. It has been a controversy-filled offseason for the running back, culminating with a four-game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. He will miss the first four games while serving that suspension. This came after he was overweight at minicamp, pointing to his wife’s pregnancy for the weight problem.

This is surprising given the timing. The Bills play their second preseason game Saturday evening, so getting rid of him the afternoon leading up to the game is certainly an odd decision. It is possible they wanted to give him time to sign elsewhere.
