When Brock Purdy went down with an injury after the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 1 game, veteran quarterback Mac Jones had the opportunity to once again be a starter in the league. The 2021 first-round pick has taken full advantage of that opportunity, playing the best football of his career in the three games he started.
Now, on track to start a fourth game, Jones has the opportunity to completey rewrite his narrative.
Purdy, who is still believed to be QB1 when healthy, hasn’t returned to practice yet. That puts Jones in line to start for San Francisco on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
