After life spent on coaching carousel, 49ers’ Shanahan now sees Saleh go for ride

SANTA CLARA — Kyle Shanahan joked earlier this week that the media circus that had arrived with the NFL playoffs reminded him of the crowd at his introductory news conference.

That was Feb. 9, 2017 — 1,065 days ago. In the time since, he’s established the 49ers as a contender on the rise, hired his own coaching staff and now seen other teams try poaching his assistants.

“Whether it’s this year, whether it’s next year, whatever, Saleh is too good and too unique,” Shanahan said Thursday.
