SANTA CLARA — Injuries to Matt Breida and Dante Pettis, as well as familiar red-zone struggles, marred the 49ers offensive showing until a go-ahead drive just before halftime of today’s home finale against the Chicago Bears.
Robbie Gould’s third field goal of the half, this one from 23 yards, put the 49ers ahead 9-7 as the first half ended against his former team.
The 49ers earlier scored on 33- and 30-yard field goals by Gould, who kicked five field goals, including the game winner in the final seconds, of last December’s 15-14 win at Chicago, where Jimmy Garoppolo made his 49ers starting debut.
