SANTA CLARA — Matt Breida and Dante Pettis emerged as two of the 49ers’ best playmakers and injury replacements in this sideways season, but they won’t make it to the finish line.
Breida’s often-aggravated ankle injury and Pettis’ knee injury Sunday will keep them out of Sunday’s season finale against the host Los Angeles Rams, coach Kyle Shanahan announced.
