49ers reportedly work out Sean Spence, Donald Butler in wake of Reuben Foster injury

The San Francisco 49ers have worked out free agent linebackers Sean Spence and Donald Butler on Tuesday, according to Field Yates of ESPN. The workouts in the wake of first-round pick Reuben Foster’s high ankle sprain.

There is no timetable on Foster’s injury, and the 49ers have only said that it’s not as serious as it first appeared. A high ankle sprain can vary wildly in recovery time, so there are few surprises when it comes to Foster. He could miss a game, or he could miss five games. I’m not an injury expert, but that’s typically how it goes.
