49ers reportedly turned down substantial trade offer for George Kittle before signing him to extension

George Kittle is now signed through 2029 after he agreed to a four-year extension with the 49ers this week. However, the 49ers reportedly had a chance to move on from their All-Pro tight end and recoup a significant draft pick in a trade.

On her ‘Scoop City’ podcast, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that, before the 2025 NFL Draft, the 49ers had discussions around a Kittle trade, which obviously ultimately did not come to fruition.

Russini said:

“I know there was a team that had a conversation with the 49ers the night before the draft about a possible trade for Kittle, a second-rounder they were looking to get in return.
