The San Francisco 49ers are releasing veteran WR Torrey Smith on Monday, according to former NFL player Steve Smith.
Last year, Smith was reportedly available for trade ahead of the deadline with the Eagles being a possible trade partner. However, the deadline came and went without a deal being completed.
The 49ers really need help at receiver, even when they still had Smith on their roster, but it appears as though they would prefer to completely start over at the position.
Smith, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011.
