49ers release Reuben Foster after latest domestic violence arrest

TAMPA — Linebacker Reuben Foster’s 49ers tenure officially ended this morning with his release nearly 12 hours after his arrest for domestic violence at the team hotel.

Foster, a 2017 first-round draft pick, had similar charges dropped against him earlier this year in Santa Clara County Superior Court.

He was arrested at 9:10 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt, which is located about 5 miles from Raymond James Stadium, where the 49ers will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today.

A statement released from Tampa police said officers responded to a domestic violence call at the hotel involving an argument between Foster and a 28-year-old woman with whom he had an “on-again-off-again relationship” for the past three years.
