49ers reclaim No. 1 playoff seed after win vs. Saints, Seahawks loss

In Week 13, nearly everything that could have gone against the San Francisco 49ers, in terms of seeding for the NFL playoffs, went against the Niners.

San Francisco lost that week to the Baltimore Ravens, which dropped head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad from the top seed in the conference and first place in the NFC West all the way to the No. 5 seed, while the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks both won their respective contests.

It didn’t stay that way for long.

The 49ers are back atop the NFC playoff picture after their thrilling back-and-forth 48-46 road win over the Saints, and the Niners got some help from their division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, on Sunday Night Football, too.
