49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced Monday that they’re placing S Jimmie Ward (arm) and OT Garry Gilliam (knee) on injured reserve, per Nick Wagoner.
This shouldn’t come as much of surprise, as Ward suffered a broken forearm this past weekend and was expected to miss an extended period of time.
Ward, 26, was taken with the No. 30 overall pick back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $7.112 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.
