INDIANAPOLIS -- Everyone has a price -- and it appears the Patriots’ price will be steep when it comes to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
New England is “not expected” to deal its backup quarterback, who is expected to draw the interest of QB-needy teams such as the 49ers, ESPN reported.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, 40, has said he plans to play several more seasons, but Garoppolo, 25, provides a solid insurance policy before potentially assuming Brady’s spot. Garoppolo is signed through 2017.
Meanwhile, Washington placed the exclusive franchise tag on another possible 49ers’ target, quarterback Kirk Cousins, on Tuesday.
