49ers on pace for franchise-low rushing TDs with Bears on tap

SANTA CLARA — Six rushing touchdowns. All season. That’s it.

Of all the 49ers’ dismal statistics in a season gone wrong, that one was has been overshadowed, with two games to go.

And yet the 49ers have a Pro Bowl fullback, the league’s 10th-best rushing attack and a potential 1,000-yard rusher in Matt Breida.

Baffling, right? Hey, Matt, any clue how many rushing touchdowns the 49ers have?

“Twenty?” Breida guessed. “Fifteen? Twelve?”

No, six, which would be the fewest in 49ers history outside of the strike-shortened 1982 season, when they scored six in only nine games.
