49ers notes: Hyde back; Rush, Redmond candidates to return

It’s an annual rite of early September in the NFL: Coaches get far more light-tipped when the real games begin.

Today, 49ers offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins and defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil, who were relatively loquacious in training camp, had clearly flipped the switch in advance of the regular-season opener on Monday night against the Rams.

Modkins was asked who the 49ers’ swing tackle is: Answer: “I don’t see any advantage to revealing who’s going to do what.”

O’Neil was asked about how playing time would be split between inside linebackers Ray-Ray Armstromg, Gerald Hodges and Michael Wilhoite.
