The 49ers’ exclusive hold on first place in the NFC West the past two months will slip away Monday night unless the Vikings can upset the Seahawks.
A Seattle win would not only knock San Francisco out of sole possession of first place for the first time in 64 days, but the 49ers would fall to the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoff chase with four games remaining. However, if the Vikings prevail, the 49ers will breath a collective sigh of relief while holding down the NFC’s No. 2 seed.
Following a heartbreaking 20-17 loss in Baltimore on Sunday, a Minnesota victory would be a nice consolation prize from Week 13 for the 49ers.
