EAST PALO ALTO — A year ago, Dennis Brown could spare time for an impromptu interview inside a sparsely crowded classroom at StreetCode Academy.
Flash forward 365 days and that certainly wasn’t the case Monday night inside the courtyard at East Palo Alto Charter School.
An assembly line of boys and girls, mostly in San Francisco 49ers gear, showed up for a second annual “Back to School Supply Drive” in East Palo Alto that once again enlisted the help of Brown, who spent seven seasons as a defensive end in the NFL, and current 49ers linebacker Dekoda Watson, while ex-49er nose tackle Ian Williams joined the cause this time around.
