Finding new quarterbacks are obviously John Lynch’s top priority as he upgrades the 49ers roster, and while he surprisingly gushed Thursday about this draft’s top-four prospects, he’s also intending to thoroughly explore free agency and trade options.
Unlike his tight-lipped predecessor in the general manager role, Trent Baalke, Lynch was quite forthcoming and gregarious about the first impressions he’s gathered about quarterbacks at the NFL scouting combine.
“My point was: these guys are somewhat getting a bad rap,” Lynch said. “I turn on the film and there’s a lot to like.”
Lynch didn’t hesitate to give glowing yet succinct scouting reports on four of the quarterbacks the 49ers are interviewing at the combine: Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Texas Tech’s Pat Mahomes
