Jimmy Garoppolo should have stepped out of bounds.
That’s easy to say in the aftermath of his 13-yard run, which ended disastrously when the 49ers quarterback planted his left leg near the sideline and turned toward cornerback Steven Nelson in the fourth quarter of a 38-27 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Garoppolo, of course, tore his ACL on the scramble and won’t play again until 2019.
