SANTA CLARA — As the 49ers began their final practice of the season, Jimmy Garoppolo was spotted for the first time on a side field doing rehabilitation work on his reconstructed left knee, and he exercised without any sign of pain.
Garoppolo, escorted by a trainer, hopped on both feet up and down the field with a resistance band around his knees.
Nearly three months ago, he underwent surgery to replace the anterior cruciate ligament he tore Sept. 23 at Kansas City, when he cut up the left sideline on third-and-goal from the 20 and made it as far as the 7.
