After losing inside linebacker Malcom Smith for the season, and Reuben Foster for a few weeks, the 49ers have turned to Ray-Ray Armstrong and, briefly, Brock Coyle.
Today, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was asked why Coyle replaced for Armstrong for a six-snap series in the second quarter of a 12-9 loss in Seattle on Sunday. Saleh indicated Coyle could play more in Thursday night’s meeting against the Rams.
“He deserves it,” Saleh said when asked why Coyle entered the game. “He works his tail off. He works hard. We wanted to make sure we got him some reps.
