49ers, George Kittle agree to massive four-year extension

The San Francisco 49ers took care of one of their lingering contract extension dilemmas on Monday, signing George Kittle to a four-year extension that gives the beloved tight end the biggest contract for a tight end in NFL history.

The “Bussin with the Boys” podcast was first to report on Kittle’s extension, which will pay him $76.4 million over four years — putting him exactly $100,000 per year ahead of the previous record-breaking deal Trey McBride signed with the Cardinals last month — and giving Kittle $40 million guaranteed. Other NFL insiders quickly confirmed the deal and contract amount and the 49ers officially announced the move before most of the Bay Area was awake.
