49ers gain ‘huge perspective’ when dealing with students

On Tuesday morning, in a class for autistic students at Leland High School in San Jose, a boy stood in front of his peers and froze.

He’d volunteered to play charades. But after leaving his desk, picking up his game card at a front table and looking at the word he needed to pantomime, he turned his gaze to the ground.

It was too “hard.”

At that moment, he was rescued by a 6-foot-6, 304-pound man who joined him up front and put his arm around his shoulder. Niners rookie offensive lineman Erik Magnuson examined the boy’s card, whispered in his ear and they both turned to the class with huge grins.
