SANTA CLARA — Fortifying the offensive line became an obvious emphasis since the 49ers made Jimmy Garoppolo a very rich quarterback last year.
Now it’s up to that entire returning cast of linemen to prove they belong to stay in their roles.
Center Weston Richburg’s recovery from leg surgery will keep him out of action until training camp, so perhaps the 49ers’ biggest question on the offensive line is who can fill in for Richburg.
Although Mike Person started every game at right guard last season, he has experience at center, and that makes further sense as to why the 49ers re-signed him last week.
