The open contact period of NFL free agency kicks off on Monday morning at 9:00 Pacific. Teams can negotiate with free agents; however, contracts do not become official until the start of the new league year Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

The 49ers agreed to a one-year deal with veteran safety Tashaun Gipson. Gipson joined the 49ers midway through training camp and the free safety went on to lead the team in interceptions last season.
