Sadly, the San Francisco 49ers family lost an icon on Monday, as legendary wide receiver Dwight Clark finally succumbed to his battle with ALS.
He was 61 years old.
Clark was diagnosed with ALS in 2015 and revealed he had the disease last year. And everyone who saw his emotional address to fans and former teammates at Levi’s Stadium last season will forget it.
This isn’t a pitch or a ploy, rather a sharing of information on how fans can help continue Clark’s memory. One of Clark’s many associations included the Golden Heart Fund — a non-profit organization dedicated to providing various kinds of assistance to former 49ers players in times of need.
