49ers dodge a bullet with injury to second-year tight end George Kittle

The San Francisco 49ers may have pulled off a fun and exciting 24-21 come-from-behind victory over the Dallas Cowboys during both teams’ preseason debuts Thursday night. But the big story of the game from the Niners’ vantage point was the plethora of injuries suffered by a number of first-team players.

One of the more serious apparent injuries was that to second-year tight end George Kittle who, after reaching from an overthrown pass from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, fell awkwardly to the ground and landed on his right elbow.

The specific play, which can be seen here, looked to jar Kittle’s shoulder.
