In the search for their new defensive coordinator, the 49ers have interviewed a candidate that has taken on the team both on and off the field.
Kansas City Chiefs defensive back coach Dave Merritt became the fourth known candidate to interview for the vacant San Francisco position. What makes the decision interesting is not only the fact that Merritt just beat the Niners in the Super Bowl, but also that he recently trashed the Niners a bit during a radio interview.
During an appearance last week on “Sports Shop,” a North Carolina-based sports radio show, the Kansas City coach and the hosts discussed San Francisco’s decision to fire defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
