Tim Ryan, the color analyst for the 49ers’ official radio broadcast, was suspended Wednesday after saying that Lamar Jackson’s “dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform” made it hard to stop him on zone-read plays.
The 49ers confirmed Ryan’s suspension in a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, which first reported the story. (To hear the full audio, click on their story here.)
On Monday, Ryan appeared on KNBR’s Murph and Mac for a scheduled weekly appearance. In the pertinent audio, Ryan is discussing Jackson’s ability to effectively sell a fake handoff.
