CARSON — A week after losing franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending knee injury, the 49ers lost his blindside protector Sunday.
The good news: The 49ers don’t think Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley sustained a torn ACL when he was injured in the second quarter of Sunday’s 29-27 loss to the Chargers.
Staley, who is expected to have an MRI on Monday, was unable to return to the game and was wearing brace on his right afterwards.
