It is incredible how much the receiver core has improved on this team since John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan came to San Francisco.
Just two years ago, the team was stuck with guys like Quinton Patton, Rod Streater and Chris Harper catching footballs from Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick.
Wow, writing that last sentence just made me shiver.
Fortunately, the team now has Pierre Garcon, Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor as starters this season, all who proved themselves as more than reliable in 2017. Behind them on the depth chart are Kendrick Bourne and Dante Pettis, two young players who could very likely succeed Garcon as the team’s primary possession receiver.
