2025 will shape Colton McKivitz’s future — with or without the 49ers

San Francisco 49ers starting right tackle Colton McKivitz is a polarizing player.

On one hand, many fans see the soon-to-be 29 year old as the Niners' weakest link on a questionable offensive line aside from All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams. Others, meanwhile, feel that designation on McKivitz is unwarranted, citing how the 2020 fifth-round NFL Draft choice out of West Virginia has steadily improved every season since taking over starting duties in 2023.

Either way, the upcoming 2025 campaign will carry massive ramifications for San Francisco's starting lineman.

According to Pro Football Focus, McKivitz was responsible for just two sacks a season ago in contrast to the nine surrendered the previous year, which helps justify those who feel he's improving.
